Welcome to the wyjc judo club web site
"Konnichiwa, Arigatō . . . " (Hello, and Thank You . . . )
Welcome, Hello & Thank You for taking the time to visit our web site. We hope you find what you are looking for on these pages. Just click onto the menu buttons above to see who we are, what we do & when we are open for judo etc. Better still, why not come along in person to see what 'Judo' & wyjc has to offer you, your friends and your family in 2014. We have an excellent Coaching Team who would love to meet you and your friends, and to provide you with an enjoyable and safe introduction to our sport.
WYJC is a BJA 'A' Rated Club. WYJC was awarded the prestigious 'Sport England Club Mark Award' in 2008. Club Mark is the Sport England mark of high quality sports clubs managed by Kavanagh & Page on behalf of Sport England. Following a recent 'Club Mark' External Verification Visit to WYJC (October 2013) we received an excellent Quality Report (Click this Link to Read their Letter).
WYJC has provided excellent Judo training & coaching since 1973 and we look forward to the next forty years of Judo Service to our Community, so why not come along and have a go at Judo (bring a friend with you and they can have a go too).
We were able to provide extra classes at Hilton Hall Community Centre (funded by the Community Development Foundation c/o the Spring Vale Community First Panel as part of 'Community First Funding') that "provide opportunity for youngsters to aspire and develop in the Olympic Sport of Judo" (our project aim), because we believe that Today's young Judoka are Tomorrows potential Olympic Champions.
Our Mini Judo Festival event was jointly-funded by Community First Funding and by Hilton Hall Community Association and WYJC. We have also had some Private Sponsorship for which we are most grateful and send our Sincere Thanks to our Sponsor (who wishes to remain anonymous).
5th July 2014 (two photographs below) show our young competitors (just over 50 of them) representing nine schools and 3 judo clubs. Many "Thanks" to our Team of Volunteers and Helpers on the day, including Craig who took the photographs and Helen who took care of the refreshments. Many thanks to Dee, Debbie, Heather and Alan, who did the Timekeeping and Recording and for organising the competitors' competition sheets & paperwork. Many thanks to the St. John's Ambulance Team who attended our event all day and to our Competition Referee and everyone who helped put the mats out in preparation for the event last week (and put them away again today after the event had finished). This whole project was a major success and we will be posting more photos and a report on all medal wins / results, soon. A Big thank you to our Sponsors and everyone who helped ensure the success of this project. If any of our Parents / Spectators have some good photos and willing to share them with us, please send the jpeg images to email@example.com - "Thank You One & All".
